Live Where You Want and Stay Connected with Satellite Internet

Janice lives in the green hills of western Pennsylvania. Far from the bustle of Philadelphia or the booming industry in Pittsburg, her community in western Pennsylvania is most known for its Amish community and Appalachian Mountains. Janice is not Amish, yet she is affected by their presence. Her home, like the homes of many other residents in this area who are not Amish, is off the grid. They receive electricity and the like, but not DSL cable. With large mountains separating small communities and little demand for cable, the municipalities in far west Pennsylvania rarely offer high- speed Internet cables.

Janice moved to western Pennsylvania because she wanted to get out of Philadelphia, where she was raised and went to college. Western Pennsylvania is distinctive from other parts of the state, mostly because of its Appalachian Mountains, coal industry, and fairly conservative populace. Meanwhile, Philadelphia is a humming city with tourists, American history, and expensive lifestyles.

Janice also was interested in starting a business from home, one based on her love of fresh flowers. Far west Pennsylvania, near Lake Eerie, is home to unique agriculture, due to the weather effects the Lake has on the area. It allows certain plants and flowers to bloom vibrantly during limited times of the year. Of course, the presence of the lake makes winter months windy and bitterly cold. Yet Janice decided on this part of the state, not for its ability to grow the flowers she wished to someday sell, but rather for its simplicity of life. She knew she could run her business from Philadelphia, but it wouldn't give her the lifestyle she sought.

So Janice moved about 40 minutes northwest of Baldwin, Pennsylvania. She soon discovered that setting up her small business was more difficult than she had anticipated. She was using a dial-up Internet connection. It made everything so slow. Particularly when she was designing her website, downloading texts, images, and photos was nearly impossible. Everything took so long and sometimes she would lose Internet connection for no good reason. She realized that even if she was able to finish her website design, running a flower delivery service from home with modem-based Internet was not a good business plan.

She had heard about satellite Internet before, but she honestly thought it would be an even bigger hassle than dial-up. She imagined that the installation would take a long time and that she would have continuous problems with the satellite dish or receivers or cables. The thing that finally sold her on satellite broadband Internet was the speed that it would add to her connection. It's not a small improvement either. Janice read that the speed for satellite Internet is up to 50 times faster than dial-up Internet.  Janice decided to pull the trigger.

She has been happy about her decision ever since. She has no regrets about her choice to switch over to an Internet connection alternative that is simple, inexpensive, easy to install, and fast. Her Internet flower delivery business has taken off, too. She runs it from the comfort of her study. She is about to hire an assistant to help her take orders as she travels the western part of the state to visit her growers. With satellite Internet, Janice has been able to combine her lifestyle of choice with the job of her dreams.
