A Fading Icon of the Past - Kuala Lumpur Railway Station
Featuring beautiful architecture this railway station was not the original station that was constructed on this site. Having been designed by Arthur Benison Hubback who was an architect who was strongly influenced by Asian structures, the railway station itself does not give the appearance of a station.
From the outset the building is more like a mosque than a station and many might be fooled by this outside façade. However as soon as one steps inside there is no misconception as the building couldn’t be anything other than a railway station.
The station offers the ability to allow passengers to travel to most of the major cities and towns that are located in the country in addition to special trains that run to Singapore and Thailand.
Though this station once played an important and central role in the city’s infrastructure it has sadly been surpassed today with the construction of the new and more modern KL Sentral station. However the Kuala Lumpur Railway station always presents its unique architecture and style that sets it apart from any other railway station in Malaysia and quite possibly the world.
When traveling to Malaysia, visitors should treat themselves to a train ride from this exquisite and historical station. Travellers will be privy to a journey like none other in terms of the visual scenery and the atmosphere that is generated inside.
