Punch and Die, industrial press, sheet metal?
Does anyone know a link to a SIMPLE diagram that shows what a punch and die might look like on an industrial press being used to produce toy car bodies?
Also, what is used to create the massive pressures needed in industrial press?
And... (sorry!) why is sheet metal stamped and pressed cold?

usually hydraulic pressure. or a large weight and gravity
stamping and pressing generate there own heat and unless the sheet was uniformly heated over it's entire area the pressing will distort simplest answer is hear is not required so why have the added production costs.. pre heating a metal such as copper which is called annealing jumbles the molecules making the material softer hitting hammering or punching these types of material realigns the molecules making them stronger though malleable
