Formally known as the Hot Rods, Rat Rod Trucks were the craze of truck enthusiasts in the mid 1950’s and comprised of fancy trucks with a bouquet of fancy decorative pieces on its outer body. The craze for Hot Rods began in the early 1920’s when a couple of machines were built for thorough durability; these early models lacked fenders, bumpers, hoods as well as accessories and instead used decorative items in place. In fact the truck’s body parts were also used as a substitute to the standard accessories.
Today Rat Rod Trucks are custom manufactured by skilled technicians, being built by scratch and thoroughly tested for performance. Some of the Rat Rod Trucks come in the branded form as Desoto and Chevrolet. The fashioning of the truck’s body as well as its upholstery is performed by a team of experts; however some of the original body parts of the Hot Rods that were built in the early part of the 20th century are not available today and has generated the “legacy of the missing body parts.â€
The saga of the of the Rat Rod Truck has indeed come a long way from the time of the 1920’s and its legend as a unique truck continues to live through the customization and assembling of these trucks by branded auto companies as well as by auto assemble enthusiasts. The other point that is very obvious about this development of specialty interest in Rat Rod truck is that it is a characteristic symbol of the 21st century mindset where men and women wish to create a personal identity and to simultaneously express this expression to others and other communities. It is also a form of inarticulate communication.
