Smaller Houses Vogue With Current Buyers!
The recession has created an interesting tendency in real estate construction, little homes that are more affordable and more energy efficient. The American Institute of Architects has reported a 59% change in the number of home builders in the U.S. featuring smaller houses and those trends are only reflecting the market tendency of buyers preferring smaller scale houses.
As everyones IRSs hit the skids in early 2008, so did the demand for larger homes causing a lot of the chaos still being ironed out in the real estate market. The average square foot in houses shriveled about 10% right away and has continued to decline since then.
These mini-homes can even be constructed using re-used parts from other houses or outbuildings to lower the expense. Old barns and homes that are being torn down have supplied many materials that can be used again for the builders who are constructing smaller homes.
Creative and charming floor plans feature minor luxuries like breeze ways between the garage and the home, and price tags ranging from the low 40's to the low 90's.
One builder in California builds and sells small houses, both on wheels and on foundations. The retail costs for his plans are around one thousand dollars and they are built for the mid thirties. He says that building a small home is similar to having a suit taylored to fit. Each plan has the homeowner in mind and is adapted to fit any specific desire or need they may express. This holds true for not only heat but air conditioning as well, so this reduced home plan trend works everywhere from Texas to Alaska.
In addition to the previously listed traits, a little home will also increase the best use of your building lot in many ways. With more room on your lot due to the fact that you home now takes up less space on your lot, you can use your lot to put up solar panels, solar water heaters or grow your own veggies. Putting up that extra concreate pad for a basketball hoop may even be a reality!
