Know About the Shelby Cobras and the Backdraft Cobras
Amongst the most talked about cars in the circuit is undoubtedly the Shelby Cobra. This car was designed and manufactured by Carroll Shelby. Carroll, a prolific racing drive of the yesteryears, is also a very famed designer of automobiles and this wonderful car – the Shelby Cobra – is his brainchild. Carroll retired from the racing circuit in the year 1969, as his health was no more permitting him. After this, a driving school was started by him. He also started the Shelby-American company around this time. The series of much famed cobra cars were conceived of and designed by him in this shop. Two of the most venerated models among this series of cobra cars are the Shelby Cobra and the Backdraft Cobra.
Both the Shelby Cobra and the Backdraft Cobra use the chassis of the AC car and the engines of Ford. Ask any body who is even a little associated with the car racing circuit or keeps knowledge about the happenings in the fast lane, and you will find everybody admitting that Carroll Shelby’s designed cars – the Shelby Cobra and the Backdraft Cobra in particular – are amongst the best designed and high performance cars of an entire era in the circuit. Initially, Carroll had a tie-up with the Ford Company. After some time, however, he departed from that liaison and started developing high performance cars with the collaboration of other vaunted names in automobile industry of the period. This was a period when he designed several successful cars that did wonders in the circuit. However, that is only half the story.
A few years back, a new contract was signed between Carroll Shelby and the Ford Company. This naturally raised hopes among the sports enthusiasts as well as the Shelby products that were manufactured with the aid of the Ford Company. During the 2004 US Car Shows, they put on exhibition a new Shelby Cobra – concept car. This concept car replicates largely the earlier 1960 version of the Shelby Cobra. It was like the best amalgamation of the old touches with the latest automobile technologies. This new Shelby Cobra uses the chassis of the Ford GT. It uses the 6.4 L V 10 engine. This engine has the capacity of generating 451 KW or 605 hp of efficiency. Once introduced, the Shelby Cobra went on to earn great reviews from the press and it has earned the award of “Best in Show” during the International Auto Show in Detroit.
Quite in similar lines, a replica of the Backdraft Cobra was introduced in Dubai. The Backdraft Company was actually built towards the end of the year 2000 and it focused on the niche automobiles. The Backdraft Cobra is one of the masterpieces from the Backdraft Company, and it has earned rave reviews for itself. The Backdraft Cobra is actually a hand-built car that best reflects the global vision of the Backdraft Company. The Backdraft Cobra is not one of those cars assembled from the car kits. One of the secrets behind the immense popularity of the Backdraft Cobra is the fact that it is always being updated with the best in technology, and hence remains a driver’s delight. It has double configuration and hence suits both the left-handed and the right-handed drivers with similar comfort level.
