the tyre rev gauge and the engine sound on my peugeot 406 is too high. What might be the problem?
Even when the engine is idling the engine sound is too loud
you could have an air leak into the inlet manifold or some part of the intake system after the air flow meter. the meter reckons it's measuring all the air going in - but it's not. If it is this - you should be careful it doesn't fry your pistons by running too lean. Or you may have a bird wedged in your throttle linkage...
i'd check for leaks...
