Is it a good idea to try to start a motorcycle with a battery tender connected and powered on?
I guess I'm just wondering if it's possible to use a battery tender in the same way as a jump start on a motorcycle. By this I mean having the tender connected to the battery and plugged into a receptacle to supply power, while trying to turn over the engine on the motorcycle. I was thinking there would be two possible out comes of this situation, either the battery will get a boost while starting up and not lose so much power while starting.....or the electrical and charging system will get blown. Any thoughts?
It won't hurt the Tender or the bike, but the Tender will not aid in starting the bike as a jump starter. It simply does not put out enough voltage or current to amke any difference at all. It would be like trying to use a a Double A battery as a booster, just simply not enough juice.
